CAP Energy, LLC laid its foundation on the prior successes of its predecessor Mineral Resources, Inc. Mineral Resources acquired significant holdings within the most predictable and productive portions of the Codell and Niobrara formations in the DJ Basin. In August 2014, Mineral Resources divested the majority of its working interest in the Wattenberg field. The ownership group of Mineral Resources has formed CAP Energy to redeploy capital in the acquisition of oil and gas assets.
CAP Energy is currently focused on development of its Uinta Basin oil and gas assets. CAP looks to grow via acquisitions with a target size of $50 million to $500 million. The company seeks to acquire assets that have attractive and predictable investor returns. The management team has its core competencies in assembling land positions, structuring acquisitions and in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracture stimulation technologies. Specifically, CAP Energy seeks to acquire acreage in mature basins. It is also important to the company’s strategy to acquire assets with a high degree of predictability and repeatability, with low geologic risk.
